FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who are your certifications accredited through?

A: All of our CPR classes are American Heart Association (AHA) certification courses. The BLS Provider CPR, Heartsaver CPR AED and First Aid completion cards are valid for 2 years after course completion.

Q: I am not sure what course I need; what is the difference between Heartsaver CPR AED, BLS Provider CPR and Friends and Family CPR?

A: BLS Provider CPR is designed for healthcare providers caring for patients both in prehospital and in-facility environments. Heartsaver CPR is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job or regulatory (e.g., OSHA) requirements or for anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Family & Friends CPR is intended for anyone who wants to learn CPR and prefers to learn in an instructor-led environment but does not need a course completion card. If you are unsure of what course you need please contact your employer as we do not offer refunds.

Q: My CPR is close to expiration or has expired. Do I need to sign up to retake the entire class or is there a renewal option available?

A: We do not offer renewal only courses. We encourage you to register for the class you need and attend in completion.

Q: I have lost my CPR Card; how do I retrieve another copy?

A: Please try to run a few searches in your email inbox to make sure you didn’t overlook the email with the link to access your eCard. Search and make sure you don’t have any emails from: No-eccreply@heart.org or eCards@heart.org. If you cannot find the e-mail, please visit https://ecards.heart.org/student/myecards?pid=ahaecard.employerStudentSearch and search. If you have exhausted both steps above please send an e-mail to cpr@blufftonfd.com with your full name and the approximate date you took the CPR course ($10 processing fee may apply).

Q: Help! My credential is expiring  before your next regularly scheduled class. Can you teach a class to just one person?

A: Due to Instructor scheduling, we are unable to process last minute requests. We offer both Heartsaver CPR AED and BLS Provider CPR classes twice per month (please click here for our full course schedule). We offer private classes to groups of 7 or more, but we require a minimum of 3 weeks’ notice to accommodate.  (Please click here for more information on scheduling a private CPR course.)

Q: None of your courses align with my schedule. How can I find a CPR class better suited to my schedule?

A: Please visit the American Heart Association’s course finder here: https://cpr.heart.org/AHAECC/CPRAndECC/FindACourse/UCM_473162_Find-A-Course.jsp

Q: My company/group would like to have on-site CPR training completed. How do we arrange this?

A: Please visit https://btfdcpr.com/private-cpr-course-requests/ for a full list of requirements and detailed instructions on the process.

Q: Do you offer First Aid training?

A: At this time, we offer First Aid training in a blended learning format. Students will visit the American Heart Association’s website to complete the classroom portion, and bring in their classroom completion certificate to complete skills verification with one of our instructors. First Aid skills verification is offered directly following our Heartsaver CPR AED courses. For more information or to purchase First Aid Skills Verification please visit https://btfdcpr.com/product/first-aid-skills-verification/.

Q: I’ve already done the classroom portion of CPR online; can I complete just the skills verification with BTFD?

A: At this time, we offer skills verification for First Aid only. Our BLS Providers and Heartsaver CPR classes include both classroom and hands-on skills sessions.

Q: I am a teacher and I’ve heard there is a more cost-effective K-12 completion card. How do I schedule this course? Who is this course for specifically?

A: We can accommodate these requests on an as-needed basis.  The cost of this course is $7 per student and includes an AHA K-12 Heartsaver CPR AED completion card. Please click here to view our requirements for private courses. The completion card may be issued for all Heartsaver courses taught in schools for kindergarten through 12th grade. This includes elementary, middle, junior, and high schools. This card may be issued to school students, faculty, and staff. “Faculty” refers to teachers and coaches; “staff” refers to an employee of a K-12 school or K-12 school system.
